About Us

We are a long established pre-school set within the lovely rural grounds of Ospringe CP School in the market town of Faversham Kent. We have been providing good quality care and education since 1996. Our setting provides a safe, secure, caring and welcoming environment for children from the age of 2 to school age.

Statement from last Ofsted inspection:  Staff develop a strong bond with children as they know their children well. They can talk confidently about their children's interests and how to identify and plan for their next steps. Staff identify the needs of children and work well with agencies and support children in order to keep them safe.

We have a dedicated and highly qualified team of 6 staff who have a Keyperson role, all working towards providing interesting activities and a purposeful curriculum for your children following the EYFS curriculum guidelines.

A typical day at Teddies

                                                        Welcome time

Children are welcomed and settled into the pre-school by the team.  Once in the setting the children make their own choices an decisions about where they would like to play/work and how they would like to do it, these ideas/plans are encouraged by the pre-school team.

                                                           Snack time

Once the children are settled, we offer a open snack bar where the children independently choose a drink of milk/water and help themselves to a healthy snack of their choice. The children sit around a table, supervised by a member of the team and with friends, this encourages communication, language and literacy skills. Once the children have finished their snack, they are encourage to wash up and tidy away their own utensils, this encourages independency skills.

                                                          Planning time

The children are encouraged into activities that have been planned around a child's needs. This helps the children to play and learn happily in ways which we help them develop skills and knowledge across the prime and specific areas of learning.

                                                            Free time

The session continues with a range of activities such as construction toys, small world play, play-dough, musical instruments, sensory toys, puzzles, cooking, creative & drawing activities, floor play. We have age appropriate computer programmes & programmable toys and of course the "home corner" which is often transformed into role play scenarios!

                                                            Outside play

The children have lots of opportunities to play inside and out and experience our lovely garden which is split into 2 areas and consist of climbing frames, digging pit, mud kitchen, sandpit and ride on toys etc there is plenty of exciting fun to be had in the garden!

                                                               Group time

Each sessions we encourage the children to take part in group time which consists of a story, singing, dancing or musical instruments. This encourages children to be expressive and and teach important concepts, build language skills and have a calming effect, we aim to do this near the end of each day in preparation for home time.

                                                              Home time

At home time we discuss our day and what exciting thing we have done. We sing our home time song and prepare our children to meet their parents.

Our staff are always on hand to show and guide the children with their activities helping them to explore further and enhance their understanding and learning.

Activities are planned around what the children are interested in and what has sparked their interest. Keypersons link the learning to the areas included in the EYFS document so that you can be sure your child will be covering all 7 areas of learning right from the start!
